The Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival (popularly referred to as Cinemalaya) is a yearly competition for independent films that aims to promote, encourage, and honor the cinematic works of Filipino filmmakers and aspiring filmmakers who present bold, fresh artistic insights on the lives of Filipinos.

The first festival was held in 2005 including the award-winning film Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros (The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros).

The film festival is organized by by the Cinemalaya Foundation, Inc. and the Cultural Center of the Philippines. It is usually nine days long and held every July at the CCP Complex.

Every year, a shortlist of ten aspiring filmmakers are given a PhP 500,000 (approx. USD 10,000) grant to produce their own full-length feature films. These films, along with the short film finalists, debut at the festival to vie for Cinemalaya's Balanghai Award.

Cinemalaya features exhibitions which highlight the works of the country's leading luminaries in the movie industry. Other exhibitions include tributes to past "indie mavericks" of Pinoy cinema, Cinemalaya kids’ treats, and world premieres of new digital works (the Cinemalaya/NETPAC Prize).

Aside from the film screenings and competitions, Cinemalaya also hosts other events such as the Cinemalaya Film Congress and Cinemalaya Sine Taktakan.
